Job Title: Senior Credit Controller
Salary: £36,000
About the Role
Working closely with the Credit Control Manager, the Senior Credit Controller will take a proactive role in managing the sales ledger, driving cash collection and supporting process improvements within the finance function.
This position requires someone confident in handling complex accounts, building strong B2B relationships and contributing to reporting and month-end processes.
Key Responsibilities

Take ownership of a section of the sales ledger, ensuring timely collection of outstanding payments

Proactively manage aged debt, reducing overdue balances and escalating issues where necessary

Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to resolve queries efficiently

Process and allocate payments accurately (bank transfers, cheques, card payments)

Perform credit checks on new and existing customers and make recommendations on credit limits

Work closely with Dispatch to release held orders in line with agreed credit terms

Investigate and resolve invoice and account queries

Issue credits and process refunds as required

Manage EDI and daily invoice distribution

Collect and attach PODs to outstanding invoices

Perform bank reconciliations

Contribute to month-end reporting and provide analysis on aged debt

Identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiencies within credit control
Skills & Experience Required

Proven experience within a B2B Credit Control or Sales Ledger role

Experience managing larger or more complex accounts

Confident handling escalations and negotiating payment plans

Strong Excel skills (including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs)

High attention to detail with strong numerical ability

Ability to work to deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Proactive, organised and confident communicator

Experience with NetSuite (desirable but not essential)
